Phil Ivey

Archive for November, 2007

Phil Ivey playing super strong from the button, playing aggressively and getting top pro Erick Lindgren to throw away his top pair with eight high.

A lot of aggressive play from Phil in the Pro/Am Equalizer, by the way. Love how he played there. Cheryl Hines was happy not to be a part of this pot. :)

Hehehe another really good Full Tilt Poker ad featuring our main man Phil Ivey. Got to love the cool.

More full tilt ads to come, I promise! :D

This is by far the best Full Tilt poker commercial I’ve seen. Phil Ivey and a bunch of Phil Ivey wannabes at a table, Phil being cool as ever and the midget opponent being the true Phil clone.

For some reason, this version never made it on tv — but I love it! :D

Other players in the end include Erick Lindgren, Howard Lederer, Mike Matusow, John Juanda, Chris Ferguson, …

Superstar gambler Sam Farha flop a straight AND a flush draw, and Phil gets sucked in with his set. Mike The Mouth takes a stab at the pot with what Jamie Gold would call top/top, but releases quickly. Sammy moves all-in, Phil calls after some hesitation — and then sucks out. “Oh well,” says Ivey. :D

A painful beat for Sammy Farha, but he takes it like a man. Good hand. :)

More commentary on Please, Mr. Farha!

This is poker at its very best. Both players miss the flop, both players don’t feel like backing off, and both players have the correct read on the other player. Excellent stuff!

Vicious poker — and I love it. At no point did Phil think he had the best hand in this one. At 2:35 you can actually see phil think “omgwtfbbq is going on in this one?!”. Sick, but breathtaking poker — enjoy it!

Youtube commenter Yoshi summed it up right, though:

“The deciding factor was that Jackson left 380K behind him with a million chip pot…which was illogical/unnatural. He would be pot committed later anyways if Ivey called. “

Beautiful, innit? :)

Phil makes a simple play in this hand from late position, and pretty much bets Jani Sointula off AK, exactly the same hand Ivey has.

Not too much commentary on this one, because there’s not much to say — just enjoy the poker! :)
